Interpreting History | A Conversation with Christy Coleman and Librarian of Virginia Dennis Clark

About

Join us for a conversation with Christy S. Coleman, executive director of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and Librarian of Virginia Dennis Clark as they explore how the ways historic sites, museums and archives interpret history shape our understanding of the past.

A tireless advocate for the power of museums and narrative correction, Coleman is an innovator in the museum field, having held leadership roles at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Wright Museum of African American History and the American Civil War Museum.

This event is part of the Library’s programming commemorating Virginia's role in the 250th anniversary of American independence. It will feature a display of original documents from the Revolutionary era, including the final page of the official journal of the Virginia House of Burgesses recording its dissolution on May 6, 1776.

This is a free event, but registration is required. Seating in the Lecture Hall is available on a first come, first served basis. Limited free parking is available underneath the Library at 800 East Broad Street. For more information, contact education@lva.virginia.gov.
